Attended a Webinar today - Diversity Executives Sound Off! - hosted by the Multicultural Forum on Workplace Diversity. During Q&A I asked the panel, "How do you focus on business and get away from social stuff around race and gender?"
Here's a short summation of what Linda Jimenez, CDO and VP of diversity and inclusion for WellPoint had to say:
There is a social component – it’s about inclusive environments – but we focus on moving beyond that to show business integration especially in ERGs: productivity, growth in marketplace, address gender benefits, policies, marketing materials from language perspective. Collaborate with veteran programs to bring in talent that would be otherwise untapped. It’s about showing that social community is important and helps engagement but also what are you doing to make a difference in the organization to drive growth and productivity?
What best practices have you developed to integrate diversity and business in your organization?
