Remedial Measures for Controversial Cartoon

Remember the controversy surrounding the now infamous New York Post chimpanzee cartoon? For a refresher, read one of our previous posts.

Well, now it seems News Corp. — the conglomerate that owns the Post — has decided to create a diversity council that will meet on a biannual basis with a few of the company’s senior execs, according to an article by The Associated Press.

The article went on to state that News Corp.’s subsidiaries — the New York Post and Fox News Channel — have a history of being referred to as “insensitive” or “racist” by minorities.

What do you think of the initiative? Is this intended merely to quell the media storm or does it actually have the potential to bring about long-term changes?
